Our copper fence caps come with copper nails.
The nails are hardened copper, but as a soft metal, there is a risk of bending when hammering them into harder woods.

We recommend drilling a small pilot hole into the wood, a little smaller than the nails.
The nails are approx 0.12".
Hardwood: Use a #42 or #43 bit (approx. 3/32").
Softwood: Use a #44 or #45 bit (slightly smaller for better grip).

Protect the attractive nail head
To protect the attractive head, use a rubber mallet.
Alternatively you can place a piece of wood or fabric between the head of the nail and your regular hammer.
