Copper is naturally a softer metal that many others used for nails and fasteners. Though this copper is half-hardened to reduce bending, you may still wish to exercise some best practices when hammering them into harder woods.

Our copper nails are half hard 12 gauge copper with a threaded shank for grip & attractive nail head. 

Drilling a pilot hole into wood
 
If you are hammering them into hard wood, you can drill a small pilot hole to prevent the nails from bending.

Protect the nail head
To protect the attractive head,
  • hold the nail in place with pliers (optional)
  • use a rubber mallet,
  • and/or place a piece of wood or fabric between the head of the nail and your hammer.
